Interesting article - but I think it's worth noting that the retail investors who invested in EcoPlanet Bamboo's Bamboo Bonds lost their money. It was marketed by a series of boiler room operations promising too-good-to-be-true returns of "up to 895%" (!). Ecoinvestments' website has now disappeared (it was one of the boiler rooms - you link to it in your post) but here's an archived copy - https://archive.ph/EpuXg - promising returns of 293%. In its brochure about the bonds, Ecoinvestments promises returns "up to 503% over 15 year Bond term".
